Leadership Training - Module 1 - 5
1. Leadership 101
Interactive discussion of contrasting leadership (visionary vs. innovative) and management (goal-oriented vs. results-driven) traits, responsibilities of both, and appropriate situations for each style. Exercises include identifying the best leader you’ve ever worked for and what made them great, team leaders for specific goal achievement, the leadership role that best fits your style, and how you can change your role.
2. Management 101:
Examines managerial roles and responsibilities, characteristics of successful management, and key attributes that ensure effective and efficient utilization of resources, talent, and time. Powerful simulations and exercises teach practical skills in prioritizing limited resources and conflicting requirements. Includes personality profiling with emphasis on practical applications to help students manage employees effectively, as well as influence bosses and peers. Do’s and Don’ts from lessons learned are shared to provide greater insight into the successful management of almost any situation.
3. Understanding and Using Organizational Culture
Your team has a specific culture that’s based on past leadership, old habits, and a workforce with many people who have been on staff for 30+ years, as well as newer and/or younger employees who bring a decidedly different set of values to the table. It is critical that you understand your overall culture, including individual and organizational ethics, before you can begin to change that culture from the “old way” to the “new way.” This course explains how you can accomplish change while continuing to maintain the highest ethical conduct, even as you incorporate the very best new ideas and concepts. Exercises include a survey on organizational culture and perceived ethics.
4. Implementing Change Initiatives and Surviving the Resistance to Change
Designed as a discussion of all past and present initiatives undertaken by your organization, with a root-cause exploration of each perceived success or failure. Includes the “5 Whys” drill-down tool, which leverages lessons learned to improve implementation of future initiatives. Based on Rick Maurer’s book on change resistance, Why Don’t You Want What I Want? - Bard Press, Altanta GA, Copyright 2005 All Rights Reserved, this course includes exercises on recognizing, understanding, and managing all types of resistance; it also provides a proven method for mitigating resistance before you implement change.
5. Identifying and working with Personality Types
Studies have proven that each individual in an organization has a preferred way to assimilate and dispense information, and a preferred way to deal with other people. This course includes a full personality assessment based on an overview of the Wilson Social Styles. Effective methods for dealing with others in your organization (both leaders and subordinates) are discussed, along with a quick way to determine who is on your team. |
