6. Dealing with Difficult Employees
Most of your employees were not “difficult” at the time of hiring, so what drove them to this problematic behavior? Find out what a difficult employee may be trying to say to you, understand the information, and respond to it appropriately. Role-playing exercises help each participant practice dealing with a disgruntled employee.
7. Pay for Performance Compensation Strategies (P4P)
P4P has become a hot topic. This course reviews pilots programs that are currently underway, benefits achieved by those pilots, and lessons learned, including ethics versus results. Students practice defining quality indicators and measures for effective P4P system development.
8. Managing Financial Performance for Non-Financial Managers
Students gain an understanding of financial metrics and reporting, as well as how to speak the language of business operations. Exercises include defining common terms such as cost, ROIC and EBIT; how financials are gathered for a non-profit organization; and how to set up a program management plan for your organization. This module also includes establishing and managing a budget for specific areas of responsibility.
9. Succession Planning
Understanding how to identify, evaluate, and grow talent to assume new roles with increased responsibilities in your organization is a critical skill for a business leader. Identifying a given role’s required tasks and capabilities is only the first piece of the puzzle! Most positions include responsibilities that go beyond the job description. Students learn to master this vital skill here and practice developing a succession plan for their own organizational role, with milestones for training, piloting, etc.
10. Effective Communication Skills:
Employees at your organization must be able to communicate effectively both up and down the chain of command, across the entire organization. In addition to multimedia techniques, this course empowers students to develop and deliver presentations, with sessions videotaped for review. Each student receives feedback from the entire class as well as the instructor, and they get to keep their tape!
